Recently, India witnessed the launch of two premium electric vehicles on its 75th Independence day. Ola Electric scooter comes up with two variants i.e. S1 and S1 pro.
Simple Energy announced the ‘One’ claiming the world’s longest-range electric scooter in the EV scooter segment.
The Ather 450X has the benefit of being a senior player in the EV scooter segment but the launching of two new EV scooters with geeky features might give it some sleepless nights.

Talking about the charging time, Ather company claims to have a charging time of 4 hours 45 minutes which is lesser than Ola S1 Pro.
Ola S1 Pro can take 6 hours 30 minutes to get fully charged. But don’t forget that the battery sizes are different in both cases and so is the difference in charging time.
Simple One has two battery packs – a fixed battery pack and a removable battery pack. You can charge the fixed battery using any 15A socket from 0-80% in 2.5 hours and a portable battery pack in just 75 minutes.
Fast Charging Network: Ather 450X vs Simple One vs Ola S1 Pro
All three electric scooters companies come up with fast-charging networks.
You can charge your Ather’s e-scooter battery on the ‘Ather Grid’ network. It can charge the battery at the rate of 1.5 km per minute.
You can charge 50 percent Ola S1 Pro battery in just 18 minutes using Ola Hyperloop Network. Ola Electric is going to establish the ‘Ola HyperLoop Network’ in more than 500+ cities.
Simple One calls its network ‘Simple Loop’. It is capable of charging the battery at the rate of 2.5 km per minute up to 80 percent charge.
Seems like days are not far when you can charge your electric scooter as fast as your smartphones.
Range: Ather 450X vs Simple One vs Ola S1 Pro
Ather Energy says that its 450X scooter can run up to 116 km on a full charge.
Ola S1 Pro can run 181 km on a single charge.
But the newcomer, Simple One wins the race as far as range is concerned. The Simple One scooter provides the maximum range of 236 km as claimed by the company.
If Simple One gives the claimed range practically on road, you can say goodbye to range anxiety.
Top Speed: Ather 450X vs Simple One vs Ola S1 Pro
Ather 450X offers a top speed of 90 kmph.
The Simple Energy’s One comes second in this as it can do a top speed of 105 kmph.
Ola S1 Pro leaving the above two electric scooters behind offers a top speed of 115 kmph.
Gone are the days when electric scooters were having an impression of running slower on the road.
Acceleration: Ather 450X vs Simple One vs Ola S1 Pro
Acceleration excites young riders and EV companies know this very well.
Ather’s 450X scooter can reach from 0 to 40 kmph in just 3.3 seconds.
Ola S1 Pro is slightly quickest with an acceleration time of 3 seconds.
Simple One Electric can reach from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.95 seconds. Among three electric scooters, Simple One has the shortest acceleration time.
Remember that these claims are on paper, so we will wait to see for ourselves which one of these three is the quickest in reality.
Price in India: Ather 450X vs Simple One vs Ola S1 Pro
The pricing of Electric Vehicles differs state-wise.
The price of the Ather 450X electric scooter is Rs.1,68,989 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru, without subsidies). With FAME II subsidy, the cost goes down to Rs.1,44,500.
The Simple One Electric scooter price is Rs.1,09,999 lakhs (ex-showroom price, without state subsidies).
The price goes down further with selected state subsidies.
Ola S1 Pro costs around Rs.1,29,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru, without subsidies).
Among three electric scooters, Ather 450X is the costliest one (comparing prices without subsidies).
Of course, features seem fascinating, it wouldn’t a wise choice to buy an electric scooter only based on features.
Range, battery capacity, and charging time are also crucial factors that need to be considered.
