How to calculate kilowatts of AC motor?
For single phase, kilowatts (kW) is equal to rated voltage (V) multiply by current multiply by power factor multiply by efficiency. Divide that result by thousand to get the final result in kilowatts.
Example: Let us say you have 230 VAC motor having efficiency 0.60, power factor 0.55 and current is 10 amps. The calculated horsepower of AC motor is 0.75 kW.
For three phase, kilowatts (kW) is equal to square-root of three multiply by rated voltage (V) multiply by rated current (I) multiply by power factor multiply by efficiency whole divide by thousand.
Example: Let us say you have 415 VAC motor having power factor 0.85, efficiency 0.93, and rated current 726. For this motor, the calculated horsepower of AC motor is 412.034 kW.
